Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 6 February 2024: Bangladesh has summoned the country's ambassador U Aung Kyaw Moe to Dhaka in protest over the death of two people in a mortar shell fired from across the Myanmar border. The Ambassador of Myanmar arrived at the State Guest House Padma at 11 am on Tuesday. He went out around 11:35. Officials of the concerned wing of the Ministry of External Affairs spoke to the ambassador.

Foreign Ministry sources said the Myanmar ambassador was summoned at 11 am. Bangladesh called him and protested about the ongoing situation on the border. Director General of the Myanmar Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Md. Mainul Kabir said, "We had a meeting with the Myanmar ambassador. We called him to protest."

Fighting between the army and the insurgent group Arakan Army continues in Myanmar's Rakhine state. Heavy firing was heard intermittently from across the border on Monday as well. All in all, the conflict between the two sides of Rakhine is increasing the anxiety on the Bangladesh border.
