Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan inaugurated the track laying program at the Jazira end of the bridge at around 12 noon on Saturday (August 20). At this time, he said, the work of laying the track will be completed within the next four months. Six passenger trains will run through this railway bridge.

According to sources related to Padma Bridge, trains will run through Padma Bridge next year. Work is going on for that purpose. Most of the railway laying work is done at night. Cars will run regularly through Padma Bridge. Therefore, the work of laying the rail track will continue by reducing the speed of the vehicle. First, the train will run from Dhaka to Faridpur's Bhanga via Padma Bridge.

The cost of the railway line and its infrastructure has been estimated at Tk 39 thousand 247 crores. 62 percent of the Dhaka to Mawa section has been completed and 81 percent of the section has been completed from Bhanga to Mawa. 52 percent of the section from Bhanga to Jessore has been completed.

Chief Whip of Jatiya Sangsad Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury along with officials of Railway Ministry and Padma Bridge were present at the inauguration ceremony of laying the rail track.
