Own Correspondent, Dhaka, May 12: Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen has sent a letter of thanks to activist Syeda Ratna for protecting Tentultala ground in Kalabagan of the capital.

The minister thanked Ratna for her admirable role in the ground protection movement.

Syeda Ratna received the letter on Tuesday (May 10) evening. "I am very happy to receive the letter. Our movement is going to be successful with the support of all," she said in this regard.

In the letter signed on the official pad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Minister wrote, "Take my salaam. Thank you for your admirable role in the movement to protect the Tentultala ground in Kalabagan. The Tentultala ground in Kalabagan is the only open space and playground for the three lakh people living in this ward."

The minister also said in the letter that lack of field was hampering the normal development of children and they are involving in immoral activities.

He further wrote, “Reading about your initiative in protecting this ground in the newspaper reminds me of my childhood and adolescence. At that time there were many playgrounds and big ponds in the Sylhet region, where our childhood was spent with great joy. At present, buildings have been constructed by filling the reservoirs and various buildings have been constructed on the playgrounds. As a result, the youth and adolescents of the area are being deprived of their normal development due to lack of playgrounds. They are involved in various immoral activities including drug consumption."

Meanwhile, Syeda Ratna is overjoyed to receive a letter of thanks from an influential government minister.

“A minister congratulated me on a good job, this culture really fascinated and inspired me. I am overwhelmed. Really good people appreciate good work. I am following the orders and directives of the Prime Minister and I am on the right path," Ratna said.

Describing the incident of that day, Syeda Ratna's daughter Sheuti Segufta said that a truck came to the ground around 1 am. In the next morning, bricks were thrown in the ground. Her mother (Ratna) came out at around 10 am and made a Facebook live from one of the corners of the ground. Then the police took Ratna and put her in the police van. Her brother, Ratna's son, was also detained later and taken to police station.
