Dhaka, October 4: Various parts of the country, including the capital, have been left without electricity. It is said to have happened due to a fault in the national grid, but no one has been able to confirm the fault yet. State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid Bipu said that the National Grid has failed.

"We are constantly trying. Electricity has been restored in some places. It will take about another hour to fix the whole sequence," he said.

Around 11:30 am on Saturday, various areas of the capital started going without electricity. After that news came from different districts also there is no electricity. Arifur Rahman, executive engineer of the West Zone Power Grid Company from Kushtia, said that the blackout occurred at 11:29 pm in the Sholdag area of ​​Bheramara upazila after a fault occurred in the national power transmission line. The fault occurred at the junction of the Indian and Bangladeshi lines.

He also said that work has started on the repair of the transmission line.

PDB Chittagong Region Senior Assistant Director (Public Relations) Md. Moniruzzaman said that since the disaster in the national grid at 11:30 in the morning, production has stopped from the centers of Chittagong. So the power supply is also stopped. There is no problem in local centers, there is no provision of reserve power if the supply is not available after generation. Therefore, the centers in Chittagong have been closed.

Meanwhile, the production of nine units of Ashuganj power plant has stopped due to lack of supply in the national grid. Sajjadur Rahman, director of the technical department of this power plant, said that due to the fault of the Veramara power substation, there was a disaster in the national grid. After that, the electricity production of 6 units of Ashuganj power plant and 3 rental units stopped at around 12 noon.

Engineers have started work on repairing the national grid line, but he could not confirm when it would be operational. However, the Minister of State for Power said that everything will be normal by evening.
