Dhaka, March 22, 2024: Jagannath University (JUB) lecturer Abu Shahed Imon has been temporarily expelled for sexual harassment.

At the same time, Professor Junaid Ahmad Halim has been relieved from the post of the chairman of the department.

Both of them are teachers of film and television department of Jabir. This decision was taken at the 94th syndicate meeting of the university on Thursday.

Job's acting registrar Professor Dr. confirmed the matter. Ainul Islam said that teacher and lecturer Abu Shahed Imon accused of sexual harassment has been suspended and Professor Junaid Ahmad Halim has been relieved from the post of chairman. The matter will be informed in detail in the form of notification.

Earlier on March 18, a student of Jagannath University's film and television department filed a sexual harassment complaint against the two teachers at the DB office. She alleged that in 2021, Abu Saheed Iman sexually harassed her.

Then when the complaint was made, various torture swords came down in his life. Recently, in the case of suicide of Fairuz Sadaf Avantika, a student of the same university, this student spoke out against sexual harassment and various oppressions. There, while talking about Avantika, the topic itself comes up.

The student said, the teacher of my department, Abu Shahed Iman, sexually harassed me. After giving this complaint, the chairman of the department and the accused teacher kept pressuring me in various ways to withdraw it. As I did not agree to this, they threatened to expel me from the university along with cutting off my hands and feet. I was put in a room. I failed various exams with zero marks. Failed in honors final viva.
