Dhaka, August 11: The sky in the capital Dhaka has been cloudy since morning with the sun peeking out at times. Around 12 noon, the capital experienced a spell of rain. After that it rained intermittently.

According to meteorologists, it is a normal rainy season. Sometimes its tendency increases, sometimes it decreases. It mainly depends on the monsoon winds. They said the monsoon is moderately active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.

Earlier, the meteorological department said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusts are likely in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours from 9 am on Wednesday (August 11). There may be moderate to heavy rains in some parts of the country.

During this time day and night temperatures across the country may remain almost unchanged. Meteorologist Bazlur Rashid also said that the tendency of rain may increase in the next three days.

The maximum rainfall in the last 24 hours was 85 mm in Sylhet from 6 am on Tuesday to 6 am on Wednesday. And 14 mm rain has fallen in Dhaka. Besides, there were 36 in Nikli, 26 in Chittagong, 19 in Sitakunda, 25 in Rangamati, 36 in Comilla, 18 in Kutubdia, 73 in Rajshahi, 45 in Bogra, 10 in Badalgachhi, 30 in Rangpur, 63 in Tentulia, 18 in Rajarhat, 15 in Barisal, 64 in Bhola and 21 in Patuakhali.
