D8 Meeting The D-8 summit is starting on April 8, hosted by Bangladesh
Dhaka, April 1: The tenth D-8 summit is going to be held on April 8 virtually. This time Bangladesh is the organizer of this conference. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over the Summit. Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen made the announcement at a virtual press conference on Wednesday (March 31).
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the first D-8 summit held in 1997. And Bangladesh successfully organized the second D-8 summit in Dhaka in 1999.
At the press conference, the Foreign Minister said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over the 10th D-8 Summit and will address on behalf of Bangladesh." However, the D-8 heads of state and government will address the conference with virtual involvement. At this year's summit, the current D-8 chair will be handed over to Turkey and Bangladesh. As the host country, Bangladesh will be the chair of D-7 for the next two years.
AK Momen said that as a preparatory meeting of the 10th D-8 Summit, the 43rd session of the 19th Ministerial D-8 Council and the 43rd session of the D-8 Commission will be held on April 7 and 5-6 respectively. A Bangladesh delegation led by the Foreign Minister will participate in the 19th Ministerial Council meeting.
The Minister said that the youth communities of the D-8 countries should take up the challenge of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and adapt to the new technology so that they can actively participate in the development of their respective countries by developing their latent potential to the maximum.
He said the forthcoming 10th D-8 summit is expected to adopt the 'Dhaka Declaration-2021' documents. The activities covered under the Roadmap and 'Dhaka Declaration 2021' will be of special importance during the two-year presidency of Bangladesh after the Summit.
The Minister further said that the D-8 Business Forum to be held on April 5 on the sidelines of the Tenth Summit will be attended by D-8 Chamber of Commerce and Industry D-8 from FBCCI of Bangladesh, The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchange of Turkey-TOBB. Will take over the presidency.
