There is no threat of terrorist attack in Ijtema: RAB

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 1 February 2024: Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) M Khurshid Hossain said, "There is no threat of any kind of terrorist attack around the world community. We have collected information through our intelligence surveillance and cyber team. We are very alert in this regard.”

He said these things while interacting with reporters at RAB's control room at Tongir Biswa Ijtema ground in Gazipur on Wednesday.

About the security of World Ijtema, RAB Director General said, pilgrims from different countries of the world came in Ijtema apart from Bangladesh. RAB and other law enforcement agencies and administration are working round the clock to brighten the image of the country by conducting Ijtema in a fair and smooth manner.

He said that sufficient number of RAB members have been deployed to strengthen regular patrolling and increase intelligence surveillance in Ijtema area and neighboring areas. Five battalions including RAB-1 will perform duties to ensure overall security. A control room has been set up for round-the-clock monitoring. Apart from this, monitoring is also being done from the headquarters. RAB's special team, bomb disposal unit and adequate striking and reserve force have been kept ready to deal with any emerging situation.

M Khurshid Hossain said that sufficient number of CC cameras have been installed around the entire Ijtema Maidan. Strict precautionary measures are being taken to prevent any untoward incident. Legal measures will be taken to reduce the violence of drug addicts, robbers, pickpockets and malam parties around Ijtema area.
