Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 10 January 2024: Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina said that if the advice of foreign masters is followed, no one can survive in the politics of Bangladesh.

She said that BNP had come to thwart the 12th national election. They have some foreign masters. They do not know the people of Bangladesh. It will not be possible to survive in Bangladesh on the advice of the masters.

The prime minister said this when the leaders and workers of the party gathered at Ganobhaban to congratulate Sheikh Hasina on the absolute victory of Awami League in the national elections. This victory paved the way for Sheikh Hasina to become the prime minister for the fourth time in a row. First, Sheikh Rehana, younger daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and younger sister of the Prime Minister, presented a bouquet of flowers to her elder sister Sheikh Hasina.

The Prime Minister said that people are the strength of Awami League. Hence the party has no foreign master. She also said, "We have no (foreign) master. The people of Bangladesh are our master and strength. The faith and trust of the people is our strength."

She said that a free, fair, impartial and participatory election was held with the spontaneous participation of the people despite the BNP-Jamaat clique's conspiracy to thwart the 12th National Assembly elections.

Thanking the Election Commission, law enforcement and armed forces for this wonderful election, Sheikh Hasina said, "January 7 elections will be written in golden letters in the history of Bangladesh."

The Prime Minister said that the newly held January 7 election was completely free, fair, orderly, participatory and competitive among the post-1975 elections.

"We have proved that free and fair elections can be held under the Awami League government," she said.

At this time, the Prime Minister urged the leaders and workers of the party to forget everything and work unitedly for the welfare of the country and the people.

Sheikh Hasina also said that many party-nominated candidates were defeated by independent candidates, even though they thought they would win. Mentioning that there is a conspiracy between party leaders and workers to take advantage of the differences, the Awami League president said, "By respecting the mandate of the people, forget everything and work shoulder to shoulder for the welfare of the country and the people."
