Own Correspondent, Dhaka, February 5: Saraswati Puja, one of the major religious festivals of the Hindus, is being celebrated today across the country.

Saraswati Puja is a religious festival centered on the worship of Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of learning and music. Although Saraswati is a Vedic goddess, the present form of Saraswati worship has become prevalent in modern times. However, it is known that in ancient times Tantric devotees used to worship Saraswati-like goddess, Bageshwari.

On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages. In their messages, they conveyed their sincere greetings and congratulations to all members of the Hindu community and said, "Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony. People of all religions, irrespective of race, religion and caste, have been living together in this land for thousands of years."

According to the scriptural rules, Saraswati Puja is performed on the Shukla Panchami date of the Bengali month of Magh. This date is also known as Basanta Panchami. Although Saraswati, the goddess of learning and art, has been worshiped in Bangladesh with colorful arrangements, all the formalities of the puja are being observed in the puja pandals this year in a limited manner and in accordance with hygiene rules as the school-colleges are closed due to corona surge.

The Panchami Tithi has started today at 7:07 am. The Tithi of the puja will end tomorrow, Sunday, at 7:09 am. This morning Saraswati Puja was held at various educational institutions, students' homes and puja pandals. At the end of the puja, the devotees received Anjali.

At the Dhakeswari National Temple melangan, the Mahanagar Sarvajanin Puja Committee has organized a puja of goddess Saraswati. However, due to the pandemic, the puja has been organized in accordance with the health rules and regulations announced by the government, said Shailendranath Majumder, president of Mahanagar Sarvajanin Puja Committee, and Adv. Kishore Ranjan Mandal, general secretary. Besides, puja is also being held at the National Press Club this time. Besides, Saraswati Puja is also being observed at the National Press Club this time.
