Truck-covered collision at Bangabandhu Bridge kills driver

Dhaka, July 8: A person identified as the driver of a covered van died after the vehicle collided with a truck at the Bangabandhu Setu in Sirajganj. Another person, identified as the helper, sustained critical injuries.

The accident took place near the 11th pillar of Bangabandhu Bridge on Wednesday (July 7). The deceased was identified as Kazem Ali, 50, son of late Abul Pramanik of Charanbipur village under Shahjadpur upazila.

Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mosaddek Hossain said the driver and helper were rescued, however, the former died shortly after being taken to Sirajganj's 250-bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital. The doctor transferred the helper to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital in Bogra as his condition was serious.
