Dhaka, February 10: Earthquake-hit Turkey has asked for winter clothes, medicine and dry food from Bangladesh in gratitude. Assistance has been sought for the helpless and affected people of 10 provinces of the country.

Mustafa Osman Turan, the Turkish ambassador to Dhaka, called for this assistance in a press conference at the Turkish Embassy in Bangladesh on Thursday afternoon. The press conference was organized in the embassy in the context of the humanitarian crisis caused by the terrible earthquake in the southern part of Turkey. However, the country has said it will not accept any cash aid.

Mustafa Osman Turan said, "Six thousand buildings were damaged by the earthquake." We want Bangladesh's help in a terrible earthquake. Bangladesh government responded quickly. President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh have sent condolence messages. The national flag is kept at half mast. We are eternally grateful to Bangladesh.

He said, 'We want to take aid from Bangladesh. You can help us with winter clothes, medicine, dry food etc. Dhaka's Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency-vaccination office will take these support. They will send these items to Turkey.

Former Turkish ambassador to Dhaka Ozturk missing in earthquake: Ambassador Turan also said that Devrim Ozturk, the former ambassador of Turkey to Bangladesh, is missing in the earthquake in the Anatolia area in the southern part of Turkey. He worked there in the regional office of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was not found after the earthquake.

It should be noted that a strong earthquake occurred on the Turkey-Syria border at 4:17 a.m. on Monday. The magnitude of the earthquake was 7.8 on the Richter scale. The death toll in Turkey and Syria has exceeded 17,000. According to official data, as of Thursday afternoon, 14,391 bodies have been recovered in Turkey and 2,992 in Syria. In total, the death toll now stands at 15,383.
