Two Bangladeshis killed at Lalmonirhat border

Dhaka, December 31: Two Bangladeshis were killed by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in the early hours of Thursday morning at Barakhata Dolapara border in Hatibandha Upazila of the district. They are Manglu Mia of Fakirpara village of Barakhata Union of Hatibandha Upazila and Sadik Hossain of Dolapara village.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 61 battalion commander Lt. Col. Mir Hasan Shahriar Mahmud said, "Two bodies were found near the border. The body has been sent to the morgue through the police for post-mortem. We have informed the BSF about this, their statement has been sought. If they tell me, I can know the details.

Confirming the truth of the incident, Hatibandha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Alam said that a team of BSF opened fire on the Bangladeshis when they went to the border area to bring cows from India.

Humayun Kabir, Sadiq's elder brother, said Monglu and Sadiq were shot and died when other members of the group brought them back to their respective homes with injuries.
