Two die of dengue, 69 more gets admitted in the last 24 hours

Dhaka, July 15: Two died of Aedes mosquito-borne dengue fever while undergoing treatment. One of them died at a private square hospital in the capital and the other at a hospital in Chittagong. However, data has been sent to the dengue suspicion death review committee of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to review whether their deaths were due to dengue.

The report on dengue was signed on Wednesday (July 14th) by Dr Kamrul Kibria, assistant director of the health information unit (MIS) of the health department and in-charge of the Health Emergency Operations and Control Room.

The report did not mention any deaths due to dengue, but did mention the deaths of two suspected dengue victims in Dhaka and Chittagong. For the time being, the officials of the control room of the DGHS did not agree to give any information about the names, addresses and ages of the dengue victims.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 69 more people have been admitted to the hospital infected with dengue. Sixty-eight of them were admitted to hospitals in the capital and one to a hospital outside Dhaka. The total number of patients being treated at the hospital stood at 266. Of the total patients, 264 are from the capital Dhaka.

According to the statistics, a total of 914 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, including the capital, since January 1 this year. Of these, 32 patients were admitted in January, nine in February, 13 in March, three in April, 43 in May, 271 in June and 541 in July, till July 14. Out f these, 646 of them have recovered from the disease.
