BNP | Caretaker Government US-EU said, we don't need caretakers: Obaidul Quader
Dhaka, July 19: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the visit of the United States and European Union (EU) representatives did not fulfill the hopes of BNP leaders.
He said, "The real news is - BNP leaders were waiting for Uzra Zeya and the European delegates to come. But they have come and gone. BNP did not get to hear what they wanted to hear and now their eyes and mouths are dry. There is no more joy among BNP leaders. The US-EU has said that we don't need caretakers. We want elections according to the constitution. BNP leaders are not happy anymore. Their hopes have not been fulfilled. That the elections will be held under Sheikh Hasina, is causing them the burn."
He made this demand in a short rally before the Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League's peace and development procession at Tejgaon Satrasta in the capital on Wednesday.
Quader said to the activists, "BNP has attacked various places because they are upset. They have abused. Don't be hot-headed. They are hot-headed. But we want peace. The calmer you are, the faster our victory will be. We will not be hot-headed. We are in power, so we must remain calm."
Under the chairmanship of Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League President Bazlur Rahman and moderated by General Secretary SM Mannan Kochi, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, Organizing Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Jubo League General Secretary Mainul Hasan Khan Nikhil and others also spoke.
