Dhaka, July 18: The United States of America will provide another 3 million doses of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine to Bangladesh as gift under the COVAX framework. Earl Miller, the US ambassador to Bangladesh, made the announcement on Twitter on Saturday (July 17).

"Pleased to announce another gift of 3 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine coming to Flag of Bangladesh from the American people via #COVAX. The U.S. is committed to increasing the country’s vaccine supply to beat the pandemic here and worldwide," his tweet read.

This Moderna vaccine dose is part of the US government's recent allocation of 25 million vaccine doses for Asian countries after President Joe Biden promised to share the dose of US jabs with either COVAX or other countries directly around the world.

Vaccines are being supplied to poor countries through the COVAX program to prevent the pandemic. The US government sent 2.5 Moderna vaccine doses to Bangladesh on July 2 and 3 under COVAX.

While handing over the vaccine to Bangladesh, Ambassador Miller said the United States has realized the urgent need to provide "safe" and "effective" covid vaccine to Bangladesh.
