Dhaka, Feb 5: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the United States did not call the 12th National Parliament election flawed. They will continue the relationship with the current government, both countries have interests here.

He said this during an exchange of views with journalists in his office at the secretariat on Sunday afternoon.

The minister said that they have said earlier about the elections being free and fair. But they did not say the election was flawed. If you comment that there is danger of something bad.

Awami League general secretary said that there was no violence in the election, it was completed peacefully. We do not know what free and fair election will be. BNP did not come to the election, does it mean that the election was not free and fair?

Obaidul Quader said, "We will not spoil the relationship. Let the relationship be. America has interests here, we have too."

Earlier in the morning, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader at the Secretariat.

Obaidul Quader said in response to journalists' questions about the discussion of the meeting, China can play a role in the deportation of Rohingya. It is an additional burden for Bangladesh. The world crisis is already underway. Aid to the Rohingyas has also decreased. Feeding so many people is a big burden for Bangladesh.

He said that China can play a role in making Myanmar take back its citizens. In response, the Chinese ambassador gave a positive answer saying that they will try and strengthen cooperation.
