Elections Voting in 233 local government institutions including Comilla and Mymensingh city on March 9
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 25 January 2024: Voting will be held in 233 local government institutions including Comilla City Corporation by-election, general election of Mymensingh City and some unions and wards of 9 municipalities on March 9. Election Commission Secretariat Secretary Jahangir Alam announced this schedule at a press conference held at the Agargaon election building in the capital on Wednesday.
He said, February 13 is the last day to file nomination papers in the Returning Office for these 233 elections. Scrutiny of nominations on February 15. Appeals of rejected candidates from the Returning Office will be disposed of on 19th and 20th February. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is 22 February. Allotment of symbols is on 23 February. And polling on March 9 from 8 am to 4 pm.
The EC Secretary said that in this year's local government elections, EVMs will be used in the general elections of city corporations, municipalities and district councils and by-elections for various vacancies.
Union Parishad general election and Union Parishad by-election will be held on ballot paper. He said, Regional Election Officer will perform the duties of Returning Officer in Mymensingh and Comilla City Corporation elections.
