Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 6 March 2024: Both sides are to blame for the killings on the Bangladesh border, Prime Minister's Security Adviser Major General (retd) Tariq Ahmed Siddique said, "We are also to blame, they on the other side of the border are also to blame."

He said this in response to a question from reporters after the first working session of the third day of the DC Conference at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (March 5). In response to a question about the killings at the border, Tariq Ahmed Siddique said, "Cross border killing! It is not a planned thing. In this case, both sides are at fault. We are also at fault, they are also at fault on the other side of the border."

"It's not a killing but an incident. This is where the smugglers go. How brave the smugglers are... I think sometimes they are not recruited into the army. Because they really take so much risk, I know the Indian BSF is really afraid of our smugglers.”

He said, "Many times they attack and the BSF is forced to fire. We also fire from time to time." He also said that emphasis is currently being placed on border markets.

When asked if there was a fire, are you taking it as a conspiracy or not, he said, "That's what I told the DCs. They do it (investigation). We are not involved in these matters, we are only involved in the rescue work. It is the one who finds out. it should be checked, cannot be dismissed, so coincidental, so quick to happen one after the other, even though this season is like that, this season is the dry season. It's usually the season that fires happen."
