Dhaka, June 28: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that if there is any irregularity in the by-election of Dhaka-17 seat, the voting will be stopped.

He gave this warning in the meeting regarding the enforcement of the code of conduct for the eight candidates at the election building on Tuesday.

Addressing the candidates, the CEC said, we have called you for the issue of code of conduct. We don't want behavior to be broken in any way. We hope it won't. Many times code of conduct is violated out of ignorance. Many people become overzealous and do some anti-behavior actions.

He also said that the code of conduct will be strictly enforced. We have tried this in the past. In particular, I have canceled the candidature. Hopefully no such incident will happen. Be aware too. You will make laws as a member of Parliament. Be respectful of the law. It is absolutely desirable.

Stating that violence cannot be resorted to in any way, the Chief Election Commissioner said, do not attack anyone. Don't be aggressive. Do not throw stones while marching. It is best to avoid making accusatory statements.

Kazi Habibul Awal said, we will closely monitor the election with CCTV. Many people want to stamp ballots by applying muscle power. But don't do that. It may be that we could not identify it. In this case we can stop the total vote. If I understand it is widespread. Because of this, the overall vote will be jeopardized and obstructed. Public opinion will not be reflected. If it appears to us, we will be forced to close the entire poll.

We often become impatient. The campaign should be conducted in a non-violent manner, modestly. We want to ensure voting rights. We don't care who voted for whom. Voters will come. will vote Don't come out and complain. That is our goal.
