Workers in all sectors including garments will get Eid bonus and 15 days salary before the holiday

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, April 12: Owners of all sectors, including garments, will pay workers Eid bonuses and at least 15 days' salaries this month before the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday.

The decision was taken at the 71st meeting of the Ministry's tripartite advisory council-TCC and the 12th meeting of the RMG TCC chaired by Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Begum Mannujan Sufian, at the conference room of Shram Bhaban in the capital's Bijoy Nagar on Monday.

Secretary of the Ministry Md. Ehsane Elahi, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Nusrat Jabin Banu, Inspector General of the Department of Factory and Establishment Inspection Md. Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Director General of the Department of Labor Khaled Mamun Chowdhury EM Vice President Md. Nasir Uddin, Director Harun Ur Rashid, President of Jatiya Sramik League Nur Qutb Alam Mannan along with various ministries, industrial police, senior officials of organizations and workers' organizations participated in the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, Minister of State for Labour Begum Mannujan Sufian told reporters that the owners of state, private, institutional and non-government sectors, including garments sector, will pay Eid bonus, at least 15 days' salary of current month (April) and if there is any arrears before Eid holiday.

The MoS said the workers' Eid holiday will be given to the workers in conjunction with the government holiday. However, in case of emergency export, you can go on leave subject to discussion with the workers. She said a letter will be sent to the Governor of Bangladesh Bank to keep the bank open even on holidays to facilitate the payment of wages and bonuses to the workers in labour-intensive areas.

She urged the concerned people to take measures so that the workers can travel on Eid holidays in a good and uninterrupted manner. The MoS sought the cooperation of all the owners and workers in celebrating Eid well.
