78 private institutes get approval to conduct Covid-19 antigen test

Dhaka, July 19: Seventy-eight private institutes have been granted conditional approval to conduct Covid-19 antigen tests. The approval was given in a letter signed by Dr Md Farid Uddin Miah, Director (Hospitals and Clinics) of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday (July 18).

The letter mentioned some conditions for testing.

They are: -

Applicable to people with coronavirus symptoms (cold, cough, shortness of breath, headache, loss of smell, loss of taste, diarrhea, etc.) and those who have had direct contact with a coronavirus positive patient in the last 14 days.

If the antigen test report is positive, an entry has to be made in the DHIS-2 server of the Directorate General of Health Services. However, if the antigen test report of the person with symptoms is negative, it should be confirmed by testing from the approved artificial leg without giving the report and that report should be entered in the DHIS-2 server.

Samples must be tested using kits from South Korea and America.

The maximum price of this test is Tk 700, in special cases additional Tk 500 can be levied if the sample is collected from home. In case of collection of samples from more than one member of the same family, the charge will not be more than Tk 500.

In case of reporting, ID-password has to be collected from the MIS branch of the Directorate General of Health Services. In this case contact has to be made with the focal person. Each approved institution will have a focal person who will have the rank of Medical Officer.

The letter further mentioned that all the divisional district and upazila level institutions have been directed to contact the head of the local government health service institution (Director / Civil Surgeon / UHFPO).
