Through this, the difficulty of traveling will be reduced in this four hundred year old city. On Wednesday (December 28) after 11 am, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the metro rail by unveiling the name plaque at the C-1 Block playground of Uttara Sector 15.

Sheikh Rehana, daughter of the Father of the Nation and younger sister of the Prime Minister, was present with her. Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr. Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Roads and Highways Department Secretary ABM Aminullah Noori, DMTCL Managing Director (MD) MAN Siddique, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam and other senior government officials were also present on the occasion. was present

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) is responsible for the construction and management of metro rail in Dhaka. The company said, initially, the metro rail will run from Uttara to Agargaon. It will take 10 minutes and 10 seconds to cover this distance of 12 kilometers by metro rail.

According to DMTCL, the trains will not stop midway while running from Uttara to Agargaon. Although there are 9 stations on this route of 11.73 km, other than Uttara and Agargaon passengers will not get this facility.

Meanwhile, the metro rail ticket also has a touch of modernity. There will be no paper tickets for metro rail travel. You have to buy the card from the metro rail station. Initially two types of cards will be available at the station. Permanent and Single Journey cards. Initially, cards can be collected from Uttara and Agargaon stations. The fare for this route is 60 taka.

However, you have to buy a 10-year permanent card for 200 taka. This card can be recharged as needed for travel. Registration is required to get permanent card. Registration link will be given on DMTCL website on Thursday (December 29). Registration can be done from this day. To register you will need your name, parent's name, National Identity Card (NID) or passport number, mobile number, e-mail ID. Cards can be purchased from ticket office machines (TOMs) at stations with the help of sales staff. Besides, the passengers can collect the card automatically from the vending machine.
