Dhaka, March 18: President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who is visiting Bangladesh, had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office after 11 pm on Thursday. 

Assistant Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Imrul Kayes Rana said Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was actually welcomed at the PM's office by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 11am. The two heads of state met privately for some time. Later met in a bilateral meeting.

During their presence, 4 MoUs were signed between the two countries for cooperation. The President of Maldives left the Prime Minister's Office at 12:45 pm.

Among them was a memorandum of understanding on a joint commission for mutual cooperation. It was signed by Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and Maldives Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed for bilateral Foreign Office Consulting. It was signed by the foreign secretaries of the two countries.

A memorandum of understanding was signed on cooperation in fisheries and pelican fishing. It was signed by the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock of Bangladesh and the Minister of Economic Development of Maldives. Besides, a memorandum of understanding was signed for cooperation in cultural exchange till 2022-2025. It was signed by State Minister for Culture KM Khalid Hasan and Foreign Minister of Maldives Abdullah Shahid.

Earlier, Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Salih arrived in Bangladesh on Wednesday morning. He first paid homage to the heroic martyrs of the great liberation war at the Savar Memorial. Then Dhanmondi paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu at No. 32 and toured the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum. On Wednesday afternoon, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman attended the birth centenary and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence.

According to the itinerary, in addition to the bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister on Thursday, there is also a meeting and dinner with the President in the afternoon. The Maldivian president will leave Bangladesh at night.
