BNP postpones tomorrow's 12-hr strike to Tuesday

Dhaka, Dec 17: BNP has postponed its 12-hour strike, which has been called for the postponement of elections, the release of Khaleda Zia and other jailed party leaders and the resignation of the current government, by one day.

In a virtual press conference on Sunday (December 17) afternoon, BNP's senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the party will observe the strike on Tuesday (December 19) instead of Monday (December 18).

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the strike has been postponed by one day as Bangladesh has declared a one-day state mourning on Monday over the death of Kuwait Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, died at 86 on Saturday (December 16). Bangladesh government has declared national mourning on his death on Monday.

Earlier, in a virtual press conference on Saturday evening, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi had announced the 12-hour strike across the country from 6 am to 6 pm on Monday.
