DB DB arrests 'Boma Maulana', suspected mastermind of Dhaka Judge Court bombing
Dhaka, Dec 27: Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) has arrested bomb expert Mukit alias Boma Maulana, the suspected mastermind behind the cocktail attack on the premises of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court. Lalbagh Division of DB arrested him from Chawkbazar in Old Dhaka.
According to DB, the arrested Boma Maulana collected gunpowder and made about 400 bombs from October 27 to December 16. Later these bombs were delivered to different areas of the capital. Yuba Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku supplied gunpowder to make bombs. They were rewarded if any pictures of vandalism or arson were sent to London. Bombs One of the bombs supplied by the Maulana was detonated in the premises of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court.
DMP's Additional Commissioner of Police (DB) Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid gave this information in a press conference held at DMP's media center on Tuesday.
He said, "We were looking for Mukit Hussain aka Boma Maulana for a long time. His name is Mukit, but everyone calls him 'Boma Maulana'. Once he was the president of Aliya Madrasa Chhatra Dal. Later, Chhatra Dal was elected as the joint general secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South. In 2013-14, his right wrist was blown off while making a bomb. Since then his name is Boma Maulana. Tarique Rahman himself nominated him as the joint convener of Mahanagar Dakshin Yuba Dal in July 2023 due to his party loyalty and radical and terrorist activities."
