Dhaka, January 29: A dead Royal Bengal Tiger was rescued from Rupar Gang in Alorkol area of Dublar Char in Sharankhola Range of East Sundarbans in Bagerhat. After the autopsy, the tiger was buried.

Sharankhola Upazila Animal Officer Dr Tofazzal Hossain conducted an autopsy on the male tiger in front of the Sharankhola Range Office on Saturday (January 29) at noon.

He said it would be possible to know the real cause of death of the tiger after receiving the autopsy report from the forensic lab in Dhaka. Earlier on Friday (January 28), while patrolling around 12:30 pm, members of the Sundarbans Smart Patrol Team found the tiger lying dead in Rupar Gang Char. The tiger is 9 feet long, 4 feet 3 inches wide and 3 feet 2 inches high. Age approximately 16 to 17 years. The forest department has rescued three dead tigers from the Sundarbans in the last three years.

After the rescue, it was seen that there were no signs of injuries on the body of the tiger. All limbs including teeth, nails and skin are fine. Later that night, the dead tiger was brought to Sharankhola Range Office for autopsy on the instructions of higher authorities.

Assistant Forest Conservator (ACF) of Sharankhola Md. Shamsul Arefin said the tiger was kept in the ground after the autopsy.
