Election EC announces schedule of 161 upazila polls in 2nd phase
Dhaka, April 1: The Election Commission (EC) has announced the election schedule for 161 upazila parishads of the country in the second phase. Voting will be held in these upazilas on May 21.
The election schedule was finalized today (Monday, April 1) in the Election Commission meeting presided over by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal.
EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam announced the schedule after the meeting.
According to the announced schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers in upazilas where elections will be held in the second phase is April 21. Nominations will be selected on April 23. Last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is April 30. Voting will be held on May 21.
Elections in 481 upazila parishads of the country will be conducted in four phases. Earlier, the schedule of 152 upazila elections was announced in the first phase. The first phase of polling will be held on May 8.
