Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 12 March 2024: The Appellate Division has stayed the High Court's order suspending the decision to keep primary and secondary schools open during the month of Ramadan. As a result of this order, there is no obstacle to keep primary and secondary schools open during Ramadan, lawyers said. The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan gave this order on Tuesday.

Attorney General AM Amin Uddin heard the state's side in the court. Senior advocate AKM Faiz appeared on behalf of the writ. At the hearing, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin said that keeping schools open during Ramadan is a policy decision of the government. In this case the court cannot interfere.

In the Attorney General's Court, the Muslim leader presented the picture of how long educational institutions are closed during Ramadan in any country. It can be seen that in any Muslim-majority country, educational institutions are not closed during the whole of Ramadan. In the hearing, the lawyer for the writ, AKM Faiz, said that Bangladesh is not like other countries in the world. If schools are open during Ramadan, both parents and students face problems. When educational institutions are open, traffic jams are created.

Earlier on Monday (March 11), the Chamber Court sent the matter to the Appellate Division for hearing without suspending the High Court's order to close primary and secondary schools during Ramadan. Appellate Division Chamber Justice M Inayetur Rahim passed the order.

On this day, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin heard on behalf of the state in the court. Senior advocate AKM Faiz appeared on behalf of the writ.
