Election: CEC to address the nation this evening

Dhaka, Jan 6: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal will address the nation on Saturday evening over the 12th National Parliament elections.

CEC's speech will be broadcast live on Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar.

Election Commission (EC) officials said that the voting for the 12th National Parliament elections will be held tomorrow (Sunday, January 7). The Election Commission is trying its best to make the election free, fair and impartial. In his address to the nation, the CEC will call on the candidates to cooperate in conducting free, fair and peaceful elections.

Earlier, the Chief Election Commissioner addressed the nation on November 15. In that speech, he announced the schedule of the 12th National Assembly elections. On that day, his speech was broadcast live on Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar from the Election Commission in Agargaon.

The total number of voters in this election is 11 crore 96 lakh. Among them, new voters are 1 crore 54 lakh 52 thousand. Among the total voters, 6 crore 76 lakh are male voters, 5 crore 89 lakh are female voters, and 849 are transgender voters. Tomorrow (Sunday, January 7) voting will continue through ballot paper from 8 am to 4 pm.
