Dhaka, May 29: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said about the role of law and order forces in the elections, our instructions to the law and order forces are that the elections should be fair. Law and order must be maintained.

He said if there is any challenge they have to face it. If there is any breach of law and order then they have to take the responsibility.

Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said these things in an exchange meeting with election officials, executive magistrates and law and order forces at the Barisal Circuit House conference room on Sunday afternoon.

At the end of the discussion, in response to the questions of the journalists, he said, 'Who will the voters vote for; Who wins and loses is not our concern. But we are committed to fulfill the responsibility of ensuring the voting rights of the voters.

He said, "There is no scope of favoritism with the field officials. We have said in very strong terms, you have to act impartially. It should not be thought that law enforcement means the government's forces, or the government party's forces. They will officially perform their duties as state employees."

Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd.) Ahsan Habib Khan, Range DIG SM Aktaruzzaman, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Saiful Islam, Deputy Commissioner Jahangir Hossain and others were present in the exchange meeting under the chairmanship of Barisal Divisional Commissioner Amin Ul Ahsan.
