Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 22: Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in the upcoming National Parliament elections.

However, it has not been decided yet in how many seats EVM will be used. The Election Commission will use EVMs in the required number of seats considering its capacity and rationality.

A final decision will be taken next week. Election Commissioner Md. Alamgir said this to reporters at his office in the election building at Agargaon in the capital on Sunday (August 21).

Claiming that the benefits of EVMs are more than the disadvantages, he said that even though the Election Commission has challenged the allegations of rigging in EVMs, no one has come forward to prove it.

Claiming that the allegations of undercounting and rigging of EVMs were false propaganda, Alamgir said that rigging is an allegation, but not proven. We are verifying those who have complained. But those who did not come to us and complained, we did not take into account.

He said more details about the usage of EVMs in the Parliamentary elections will be given next week.
