Holy Ramadan begins on Friday

Dhaka, March 22: The moon of the holy month of Ramadan was not seen anywhere in the country on Wednesday evening. As a result, the fasting month of Ramadan begins on Friday (March 24). The holy Lailatul Qadr will be celebrated on the night of April 18 (Tuesday).

This decision was taken at the National Moon Sighting Committee meeting on Wednesday, March 22, in the meeting room of the Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram of the capital. The meeting was presided over by the President of National Moon Sighting Committee and Minister of State for Religious Affairs Md. Faridul Haque Khan. Now the 30 days of the month of Shaban are being completed. Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will come at the end of Ramadan.

In the meeting, the State Minister of Religion said that according to the information received from all district administrations, Islamic Foundation head office, divisional and district offices, Meteorological Department, Space Research and Remote Sensing Center, the moon of the month of Ramadan of Hijri 1444 could not be seen anywhere in Bangladesh in the evening.

Thursday marks the completion of 30 days of the month of Shaban. The counting of the month of Ramadan will start from Friday. He also said that the holy Lailatul Qadr will be celebrated on the night of April 18 (26th night of Ramadan). In this case, Tarawi prayer will start after Isha prayer on Thursday night. Muslims eat Sehri on the last night of fasting. The last time of Sehri on the first day in Dhaka is 4:39 PM. Iftar time of the first fast on Friday is 6:14.

Meanwhile, Ramadan will begin on Thursday in the Middle East including Saudi Arabia as the moon was not sighted on Tuesday.

For devout Muslims, Ramadan is a month of moderation, self-purification and sacrifice. Ramadan is divided into three parts - Rahmat (Grace of God), Magfirat (Forgiveness) and Najat (Deliverance from Hellfire). According to Islam, Allah increases the reward of every good deed in the month of Ramadan 70 times.
