Khalida Zia Parole Khaleda Zia is enjoying more benefits because of PM Hasina's humanity: Law Minister
Dhaka, November 16: BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is getting more facilities than the other convicts, due to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's humanity, said Law Minister Anisul Huq while discussing the proposal to send the Leader of the Opposition and Deputy Leader (Rewards and Privileges) Bill-2021 to the selection committee for passage in the National Assembly on Tuesday (November 16).
Earlier, after discussing the proposal to send the bill to the selection committee, BNP's Rumin Farhana demanded that Khaleda Zia be given the opportunity to seek treatment abroad "legally" considering her physical condition. He also mentioned that the government has the authority to provide this opportunity under section 401 of the Penal Code.
In reply, the law minister said, "I have never said that under section 401, he is not allowed to go abroad. But he is currently at home with his sentence suspended, on the basis of Section 401. The application they made has been settled in the light of section 401. There is no scope for reconsideration in the same section under which an application has been disposed of. '
Noting that the law is equal for all, the minister said, "The privileges that a convicted criminal enjoys. She (Khaleda Zia) is getting more opportunities than him. And it is getting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for humanitarian reasons. Though he was supposed to stay at his house and receive treatment from home on condition that his sentence be suspended, he went to the hospital for treatment. He is returning home healthy. We did not interfere. "
He said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina showed humanity but they did not do it. On August 21, 2004, they wanted to assassinate the Prime Minister. The main accused in the murder case is her (Khaleda Zia's) son Tariq Zia. Even then he has been kind.
