Khaleda Zia Parole Law Ministry receives Khaleda Zia's parole extension application
Dhaka, March 10: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said that the request to extend the interim release period of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has come from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He gave this information in response to questions from journalists after a meeting with the ambassadors of six European Union countries at the Secretariat on Thursday (March 9). The law minister also said that the application to extend the release period of Khaleda Zia has come to the law ministry but has not been presented to him yet.
He said, "Has the conditional parole of Khaleda Zia, which was 6 months, been extended or not? Again it is being said that she will be sent abroad for treatment. I would like to say in this regard, I have come to know that the Ministry of Home Affairs has given an extension to Khaleda Zia's conditional parole. The file has come to the Law Ministry. It has not reached me yet. It will be sent to the Home Ministry after giving our opinion."
When asked whether Khaleda Zia can seek treatment abroad, the minister said, "I have not yet received the application. If it comes, I will dispose of it. When I dispose of it, I will certainly inform you (journalists). I still do not know what is in the file."
On whether Khaleda Zia can do politics or not, Anisul Haque said, "I want to say a clear word about this. What I said is what is in the law book. Go and check and then you will understand who is right and who is wrong. I am not saying anything more about it. When I was asked the question on the first day, I said it is a dead issue. It's a dead issue to me."
