Metro Rail Metrorail will run from dawn to midnight in July
Dhaka, February 10: The 11.73 km overhead Metrorail from Uttara Uttara to Agargaon station has started running in Dhaka with general passengers. From last December 29, Metrorail is running from 8 am to 12 pm, 4 hours a day. Then on January 25, Pallavi station of Metrorail was opened.
In the meantime, the running time of the country's first metro rail has been changed from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. However, the desired passengers are still not met due to the difference between the metro rail running time and the office time.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director MAN Siddique said that the metro rail will run from dawn to midnight every day from next July.
MAN Siddique informed the reporters at the DMTCL office in Iskaton of the capital on Thursday (February 9).
He said, "At the same time, full operation of metro rail will be started from July till midnight. Then office going people will be able to move more. Now there is mis mass with metro rail running time and office time. We have said earlier that we will go to full operation step by step. All the world But that's how Metrorail started. It's a world wide practice. We're also running Metrorail following it."
He said that if the metro rail is fully operational from Uttara to Kamalapur, it will be able to transport 60 thousand passengers per hour and five lakh passengers per day. Basically, the metro rail will be constructed from Uttara to Motijheel in the capital. For this reason, the Metrorail project was accepted in July 2012. Its initial implementation period was till June 2024. However, the period was later extended. But before that, a part of the metro rail was inaugurated on December 28.
