Metro Rail No threat of attack on Metrorail, but scanner-archway will be installed: DMP
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 21 December 2023: Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Dr. K Mahid Uddin said, "There is no information or fear of attack on Metrorail. However, there will be handle detectors for security. Request to install luggage scanners. Let the authorities take quick steps to install baggage scanners and archways."
He said these things in response to questions from reporters after inspecting the security system of metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon in the capital on Thursday.
Mahid Uddin said, "You know that the metro rail police organogram is being prepared. There is now a DIG and his manpower. Besides, the police headquarters is providing the necessary additional manpower. From the beginning, the DMP was in charge of its security. Even today, 132 policemen of the DMP are jointly responsible with the metro rail police. We have inspected the safety system of the metro rail today. We have seen everything. We will discuss and plan the small things that need to be done for the sake of safety.
When asked about the new addition of security guards in the Metrorail, he said, "It is not enough to have a CCTV camera. It should be monitored, kept under surveillance. If something unusual is found in the movement of someone during the surveillance, it should be notified quickly. And to do this, all the security personnel should have wireless sets in their hands. Yes, which we have seen outside the country. We will have handle detectors. Request to install baggage scanners. Hope the authorities take quick steps to install baggage scanners and archways."
