Dhaka, May 12: Three members of a family who returned from India in Saidpur, Nilphamari have had their house locked down after being diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19). Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Nasim Ahmed hung a red flag and a lockdown board at the old Babupara in Syedpur town on Tuesday afternoon.

In this regard, Syedpur Upazila Health Officer Dr. Abu Md. Alemul Bashar said, a man named Md. Abu Raihan (30) of old Babupara went to India in March for treatment and retuned back to the country on 23 April. Thereafter he stayed in Dhaka. After getting himself tested for coronavirus, his results came positive on April 27. His wife and child also tested positive later. They then moved to the old Babupara house without staying in isolation for the required time, in Dhaka. For this reason, the house has been locked down with the suggestion of home isolation to the family till May 19.

He added that everyone in the area was worried about whether the family was carrying an Indian variant of the deadly virus. However, all necessary assistance will be provided to them.

Saidpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Nasim Ahmed said, "Since the person returned from India, the matter has been closely monitored."
