Prime Minister Hasina donates money allotted for PMO vehicles to health care

Dhaka, September 13: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has cancelled the purchase of vehicles for her office (PMO) and directed that the money be spent on healthcare for the citizens. A letter has been issued to the concerned on Sunday (September 12) to implement the directive.

Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said Tk 15 crore was allocated for the purchase of vehicles in favour of the Prime Minister's Office in the fiscal year 2021-22. The money has been given to the health care sector on the instructions of the Prime Minister.

The press secretary said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is giving utmost importance to human health in the current situation of coronavirus pandemic. Following this, the Prime Minister has cancelled the purchase of cars for her own office and directed to spend the money on public health services.

He further said that the Prime Minister has taken many steps to improve the health infrastructure and equipment facilities of doctors and health workers, increase the number of ICUs, increase the capacity of hospitals, provide incentives to health workers, provide free coronavirus vaccine and ensure health services to the people. She has made special allocations for the health care of the people.

On Sunday, Director General (Administration) of the Prime Minister's Office Md Ahsan Kibria Siddiqui sent a letter to the concerned to implement the directive of the Prime Minister. He said the Prime Minister has set an example of thrift by spending Tk 15 crore on healthcare to buy a car for her office.
