Dhaka, 8 July 2023: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Agargaon to Motijheel section of the metro rail at the end of October.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this in a briefing at Agargaon station on Friday afternoon on the occasion of trial train running from Agargaon to Motijheel section of Metrorail.

The Road Transport and Bridges Minister said that after the inauguration in late October, the metro train will stop at Farmgate, Secretariat and Motijheel stations first. The number of stopping stations of metro trains will be increased gradually considering the reality.

He said that an average of 70,000 passengers are currently traveling from Uttara to Agargaon. This number is continuously increasing. Now the average daily income is 26 lakh taka.

Obaidul Quader said that Metrorail is a great asset of the nation and we should not add politics to all our work. Politics instead of politics. And this kind of planning cannot be done only by politics. There must be a vision.

Because of that vision, Sheikh Hasina's government is able to do such mega projects one by one. I didn't just say it verbally, I am showing it to the nation by implementing it. He said that even a year ago, people did not think that the Padma Setu would be opened so soon, the preparation of the metro railway up to Motijheel would be completed.

After the ceremony, the minister hoisted the flag and started the experimental metro train from Agargaon to Motijheel.

Secretary of Roads and Highways Department ABM Amin Ullah Noori, Managing Director of MTCL MAN Siddique and related officials of Metrorail were present in the event.
