Dhaka, March 20: The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa has paid homage to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On Saturday (March 20) morning, he paid homage by laying a wreath at the portrait of Dhanmondi No. 32. 

He then visited Bangabandhu's house (Bangabandhu Memorial Museum) in Rajapaksa and signed a visitor's book there. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam were present on the occasion.

After that, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa went to the Prime Minister's Office at 10:45 am. He was welcomed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The two Prime Ministers held a private meeting for a while. Then there was a bilateral meeting between the two countries. During the meeting, 6 MoUs were signed for cooperation between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

At the end of the meeting, he signed a visitor's book to the Prime Minister's Office and left the office.

Earlier on Friday (March 19), Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in Dhaka on a two-day visit. His visit was to attend the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh's independence. On the same day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka was also awarded the Guard of Honor.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka laid a wreath at the National Memorial in Savar at 11 a.m. on Friday, signed a visitor's book and planted a sapling there. Later, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen paid a courtesy call on Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Suite at Hotel Sonargaon at 3 pm. The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka attended the ceremony at the National Parade Ground at 4.30 pm.

He attended a cultural function and dinner hosted by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Grand Ball Room of Hotel Intercontinental at 7.30 pm.
