Dhaka, April 2: Submission of investigation report on journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi murder case has been postponed for the 107th time.

Tuesday (April 2) was fixed as the date for filing the investigation report in the case. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque fixed a new date for submission of the report as the investigation agency Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) did not submit the report. The court fixed May 16 as the date for submitting the investigation report.

Alamgir Hossain, sub-inspector of the general registration (GR) branch of the Sherebangla Nagar police station, confirmed this information to reporters.

On February 11, 2012, Sagar Sarowar, news editor of Machranga Television, and Mehrun Runi, senior reporter of ATN Bangla, were killed in their home. After that, Runi's brother Nausher Alam Roman filed a murder case with the Sherebangla Nagar police station.

Initially, the investigating officer of the case was a sub-inspector (SI) of that police station. After four days, the investigation of this murder case was handed over to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB).

After more than two months of investigation, DB failed to solve the case.

On April 18 of the same year, the investigation into the murder case was handed over to RAB on the instructions of the High Court. Since then, the date has been extended one after another, but the agency could not complete the investigation.

There are eight accused in the case including Runi's friend Tanveer Rahman. The other accused are - security personnel Enam Ahmed alias Humayun Kabir, Rafiqul Islam, Bakul Mia, Mintu alias Bargira Mintu alias Masum Mintu, Kamrul Hasan Arun, Palash Rudra Pal, Tanveer and Abu Saeed.
