Dhaka, Jan 9: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that 41.8 percent votes were cast in the 12th National Parliament elections.

Continuous polling was held in 299 constituencies from 8 am to 4 pm on Sunday. According to the results obtained after the counting of votes, the highest 87.24 percent votes were cast in Gopalganj-3 constituency. Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has won this seat. But Dhaka-15 constituency got the least number of votes. The voter turnout in this seat was 13.04 percent. Awami League's Kamal Ahmed Majumder won this seat.

On Sunday, January 7, voting was held in a total of 299 constituencies. Polling for Naogaon-2 constituency was postponed due to the death of an independent candidate. Besides, the result of Mymensingh-3 seat has also been postponed due to irregularities.

The Election Commission has announced the results of a total of 298 seats. According to the results given by the Election Commission, out of 298 constituencies, the maximum 87.24 percent votes were cast in Gopalganj-3 constituencies. Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina was elected by getting 2 lakh 49 thousand 962 votes in this seat. Her nearest rival was M. Nizam Uddin Lashkar of Bangladesh Supreme Party with single star symbol. He got 469 votes. Gopalganj-2 seat is in the second place in terms of vote count. EC reported 83.20 percent voter turnout in this constituency. But Dhaka-15 constituency got the least number of votes. The vote in this seat is 13.04 percent. Awami League's Kamal Ahmed Majumdar has won. He received 39,632 votes. His nearest rival was Md. Samshul Haque of Jatiya Party. He got 2,044 votes.

Like this constituency, the voter turnout rate is quite low in all the 15 constituencies of the National Assembly in the capital. Among the capital's 15 constituencies, maximum 30.05 percent votes were cast in Dhaka-12 constituencies. Among the constituencies of Dhaka city, Dhaka-17 has the lowest number of votes after Dhaka-15. Here 16.66 percent votes have been cast. Mohammad Ali Arafat, the candidate of the boat symbol, won this seat.
