Dhaka, September 19, 2021: Terrorists shot dead a pickup van in the Galachipa area of the Bandarban-Roangchhari road, 21 km from the Bandarban district headquarters, on Saturday (September 18) evening.

Three female passengers were shot in the incident. This information has been confirmed in a press release of Bandarban Sadar Zone of Bangladesh Army at 10 pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the names of 3 injured women were found but their detailed identities were not found. They are, Wainu Marma, May Hai Ching Marma and Ei I Ching Marma.

At present, they are known to be safe. After visiting Boga Lake, a tourist spot in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban, 19 tourists were returning to Rajasthan. The shooting happened at that time. The terrorists were reported to have fired 140-150 rounds.

According to law enforcers and locals, the armed terrorists fired indiscriminately at a moving vehicle on the Bandarban-Rangamati road in Kuhalang Union of Bandarban Sadar Upazila. Their shots shattered the car's wheels and the car fell into a ditch on the side of the road. The female passengers were injured.

Upon receiving the news, locals including army, police and administration rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and took them to Chandroghona Christian Missionary Hospital.

Meanwhile, after the shooting, the fast travelers fled and took shelter in the nearby Bangalhalia Bazaar. Unwilling locals claim that armed cadres of the Jana Sanghati Samiti (JSS), a regional political organization in the hills, were involved in the shooting.

Confirming the incident, Bandarban Additional Superintendent of Police Reza Sarwar said that on their way back to Rangamati's Rajasthan after the trip, armed terrorists from the hills opened fire on the passengers' vehicles due to internal conflict.
