Dhaka, Jan 15: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has admitted that traffic has not yet been fully disciplined.

He said this while talking to reporters in his office at the Secretariat on Sunday.

While talking to the journalists, he said, "I hope that we can reach the final destination in this journey. We have many tasks, among them I still say, discipline on roads, discipline in vehicles is very important. We have not achieved this yet."

The minister said that the challenge is more difficult in the current global situation. But I think no challenge in life is insurmountable. We can overcome all challenges. When we started the construction of Padma Bridge, no one thought that Padma Setu would happen and when the construction of Padma Setu was completed, where there was no World Bank, we did Padma Setu with our own funding.

Awami League general secretary said, "No one thought that there will be a modern metro rail in Dhaka. Five more Metrorail plans are under implementation ahead of us. Meanwhile, the work of two subways, one 13 km, the other 21 km, has started. Our target is to complete construction of six metrorails in Dhaka by 2030. The elevated expressway runs from the airport to Farmgate. Rest of the work is progressing."

"We have undertaken a plan funded by the World Bank. But I hope, if this plan is implemented, we can bring back safety and order on the road. It is our biggest challenge to restore order on the roads," Quader said.

He said, "It applies to both road and transport. We are paying more attention to this work. Roads will be built, roads will be smart. There is no point in making such a road when the road does not exist in one day of rain. We will give more importance to it."
