Road Accident Two drivers killed as trucks collide in Sirajganj
Dhaka, November 2: Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a covered van in Khalkula area of Tarash upazila in Sirajganj. Another was injured at the time. The accident took place on the Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway in Khalkula Bazar area of the upazila on Monday (November 2) morning.
The deceased has been identified as Jamirul Islam, 30, son of Lalchan Miah of Bausha village under Bagha police station in Rajshahi. The identity of the other deceased has not yet been found.
Hatikumrul Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nur Nabi Pradhan said a truck carrying potatoes was heading towards Dhaka from the north in the morning.
When the truck reached Khalkula Bazar area of the upazila, it collided head-on with a covered van coming from the opposite direction.
One died on the spot and another died after being taken to a local hospital.
Another was injured at the time.
Upon receiving the news, members of Sirajganj and Kamarkhand Fire Service went to the spot and rescued the victims.
