Three women join Sheikh Hasina's Cabinet

Dhaka, January 12, 2024: The new cabinet has been formed with 37 members. There are four women in this cabinet including the Prime Minister.

New cabinet has 25 ministers and 11 state ministers

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 11 January 2024: The new cabinet is being formed with 36 members. Apart from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, there are 25 ministers and 11 state ministers in this cabinet. Meanwhile, the Cabinet Department has published the list of 36 members of the new cabinet. However, the offices of ministers and state ministers have not been distributed yet.

President gives assent to formation of new cabinet

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 10 January 2024: Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has been appointed Prime Minister for the fourth consecutive time and fifth time. President Md Sahabuddin decided to appoint him as Prime Minister. At the same time, he agreed to form a new cabinet under his leadership. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Cabinet Department on Wednesday.

New cabinet to be sworn in on Thursday

President's Press Secretary Md. Zainal Abedin told the official news agency BASS on Tuesday evening that President Md. Sahabuddin will administer the oath to the new cabinet members.

Life imprisonment to be maximum penalty for illegal possession

Dhaka, April 10: The cabinet has given final approval to the draft of the 'Production, Storage, Transfer, Transport, Supply, Distribution and Marketing of Food (Prevention of Harmful Activities) Act, 2023', with life imprisonment as the maximum penalty for illegal stocking of food.

A woman victim cannot be interrogated without court's permission

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 26: The Cabinet has given final approval to the draft of 'Evidence (Amendment) Act, 2022', retaining provision that decency must be maintained while cross-examining a victim in the courtroom. According to the law, a victim (a woman who has been tortured or raped) can not be questioned or cross-examined without court's permission.

Shamsul Alam takes oath as state minister for planning

Dhaka, July 19: Dr. Shamsul Alam, a former member of the General Economics Division of the Planning Commission, has been sworn in as the new state minister in the cabinet. President Md. Abdul Hamid administered the oath of office to him at Bangabhaban on Sunday (July 19) at 7.30 pm. Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam conducted the function.

HSC results by January 28

Dhaka, January 11: Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said the results of HSC and equivalent examinations would be released by January 28. The cabinet secretary said this at a briefing on the final approval in the cabinet of the revised law of education boards to publish HSC or higher secondary results without examination due to coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Legal notice to the government seeking reconsideration of the decision regarding SSC

Dhaka, October 8: A legal notice has been sent to the Ministry of Education on behalf of one of the candidates demanding reconsideration of the decision to cancel the HSC and equivalent examinations. The decision was taken to avoid the risk of deadly coronavirus infection.
