Dhaka, March 8: Election Commissioner (EC) Rasheda Sultana said that candidature will be cancelled if evidence of spreading black money is found in the elections. There is no opportunity to buy votes in exchange of money.

She said these in the Chief Guest's speech at the Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner's conference room with the by-election candidates for the post of Sirajganj Zilla Parishad chairman, the law enforcement forces and the presiding officers.

Rasheda Sultana said, "Everyone related to our election will monitor this issue from now till the election is over. Voting will be done in transparent process through EVM. There is no room for manipulation. If anyone thinks that he will be elected by other means or money, then he should be careful. To be elected, you have to win the love of all the voters and be elected by direct vote. Disruption of the election without following the code of conduct will result in the termination of the election at any moment."

Sirajganj district council by-election will be held on March 9. A total of 1196 mayors, chairmen and UP members of seven municipalities, nine upazila parishads and 83 unions of the district will have the opportunity to vote through EVM system from 8 am to 2 pm. A total of six candidates are contesting here. In this, the voters believe that the real contest will be between Shamim Talukder Labu, the candidate for the jeep symbol, and Mokbul Hossain Mukul, the candidate for the horse symbol.

Incidentally, former minister Abdul Latif Biswas resigned from the post of chairman to participate in the 12th national parliament elections. With his resignation, the post of chairman became vacant.
