EC Rasheda There is no such thing as heavyweight candidate: EC Rasheda
Dhaka, Dec 28: Election Commissioner (EC) Rasheda Sultana said that there is no such thing as heavyweight, incumbent or independent candidate. She said everyone is equal to the Election Commission.
On the occasion of the 12th National Assembly elections, she said this after an exchange meeting with 35 candidates nominated by political parties and independents in the five constituencies of Gaibandha in the conference room of the Gaibandha District Commissioner's office on Wednesday.
Sultana said the candidates must follow the electoral code of conduct.
The Election Commissioner said, "We will not compromise on this. The Election Commission will do whatever it takes to complete the election smoothly with the previous experience."
"The election will be free, impartial and fair. After that, the Election Commissioner held an exchange meeting with the law enforcement officers of the district along with the field administration officials," she added.
