Trains to run on Padma Bridge in June

Dhaka, January 11: About 73 percent of progress has been made in the overall work of the Padma Bridge Rail Project. The progress of the work is satisfactory. The train will run from Dhaka to Bhanga next June. That's how the work is progressing.

Railway Minister Nurul Islam said these while inspecting the work of the Padma Bridge railway project at the Jazira end of the Padma Bridge on Tuesday (January 10).

He said, "The election is ahead. Our rail project has a tenure till 2024. Rail connection has already been established from Bhanga to Faridpur. And the work from Bhanga to Dhaka will be completed by next June. Rail work has been stopped from Dhaka to Gandaria to facilitate work. Railway line from Dhaka to Mawa is a challenging task for us. We have to work successfully."

The minister also said that 69 percent of work from Dhaka to Mawa, 80 percent from Bhanga to Mawa, and 60 percent from Bhanga to Jessore have been completed. Overall, 73 percent of the work has progressed. As it is the ideal season for working, work is going on day and night.
